JANIS
Born in 1940, died 2008. Professional training:
Janis Rozentals Art School of Riga (1954 - 1958), Painting Department
at the Latvian Academy of Arts (1958 - 1964) under the supervision
of professor E. Kalnins.
Contributor to exhibitions since 1966. A member of the Artists' Union
of Latvia as of 1970. A member of the B - 13 Association (1993
- 1998) since 1993.
Group exhibitions in Latvia, Russia, Germany, Great Britain, Sweden,
Israel, France and other countries. One-man shows in Riga (1997),
Ventspils (1996), Smiltene (1990), Lapmezciems (1988).
His works are to be found in the collection of the State Art Museum
and Artists' Union of Latvia, as well as in many private collections
in Latvia and abroad.
Professor at the Latvian Academy of Arts. Head of the Painting Department.
