RITA VALNERE

Born in 1929. Professional training: Janis Rozentals Art School of Riga (1945 - 1949), Painting Department at the Latvian Academy of Arts (1949 - 1956) under the supervision of professor E. Kalnins.
Contributor to exhibitions since 1955. A member of the Artists' Union of Latvia as of 1957. A member of the B - 13 Association (1993 - 1998) since 1993.
Several personal exhibitions in Riga, Moscow, Madona, Jurmala, Saldus, and Auce. Group exhibitions in Riga (Latvia), Moscow, St. Petersburg (Russia), Vilnius (Lithuania), Bulgaria, Poland, Bremen, Berlin, Dusseldorf, Cologne (Germany), France, the United States, China, Luxembourg, and other places.
Her works are to be found in the State Art Museum and Artists' Union of Latvia, Gekosso Gallery in Japan, Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow (Russia) and Ministry of Culture of Russia, Tukums Art Museum (Latvia), as well as in many private collections in Latvia, India, Germany, the United States, Japan. Ms Mitterrand of France and Prime Minister of India also have her works in their collections.
Various prizes of painting exhibitions in Latvia, Lithuania, and Russia.
Currently professor at the Latvian Academy of Arts.
